|Brief||Provides standard weaponry|
It may come as a surprise to many people if they know of the Protectorate, but the average war machine of the Infinite Army is constructed without any weapons. While this delays attacks due to the need to arm machines first, to the Protectorate this is quite necessary. Certain A.I.s of the Core Mind Collective have recently been going, for lack of a better word, insane. Analyses range from the lack of human approval for the Protectorate's many artistic efforts, to a general ennui from being in their underground "city" constantly, and, in the case of one particularly cheeky A.I., the possibility of close proximity to the Icon. Effects range from creating objects so bizarre they astound even the Protectorate's forgiving aesthetics programming, to going into berserk rages, and even the truly horrific times that A.I.s have attempted to become or merge with human beings.
The Protectorate have many ways to rehabilitate these rogue A.I.s (mostly exposing them to calming and highly organised binary code), but its an entirely different matter if that A.I. inhabits a machine. If that machine has weapons, it can and often will do damage to the Protectorate. An Exterminator might break some vital chipboards, while an Obliterator could destroy an entire base! Therefore, all machines are unarmed, and the best a mad A.I. could do before being restrained and uploaded is pat objects out of frustration. This does require machines to be armed before battle, but the Protectorate have already designed a way to make this exceptionally quick.
The Protectorate have designed and manufactured large movable buildings called "Modules" to create weapons and ammo for the Infinite Army. While there are many specialised ones, even the Conventional Module is remarkable. Simply put, a Module is a block of nano-lathes, miniature conveyer belts, and raw material bays constructed so close together and intertwined that the Module is almost a completely compact block of metal, with guns seeming to form in slots that are completely shaped like them. The Module uses its own body as building material, and by the end it is gone, replaced by a pile of arms and ammo, ready to arm an entire army.
