Rejected, but not forgotten
This article (Junk Copter), is about a unit, building or other aspect that has been cut or changed significantly in the game or lore.
Still, lore is a terrible thing to waste, so instead of deleting it, Team Paradox decided to preserve it for all to see. It is, of course, not canon, and not applicable for the game.

"That thing looks like a pile of junk!"
"It is junk. Well, made of junk."
- A Minuteman and a Mechanic
The Confederate Revolutionaries are amazing in their resourcefulness and ingenuity. Having to make do with limited resources, they nevertheless manage to produce incredible feats of engineering and stretch the limits of what they have to work with. Parts salvaged from destroyed tanks are used to repair working ones; engines, armour plating and weapons are all stripped from wrecks and used to upgrade Confederate vehicles. Even new vehicles can be assembled from spare components and gathered scrap, such as in the case of Confederate Junk Copters, so aptly nicknamed for the fact that they are literally made from the remains of destroyed aircraft.
Confederate mechanics salvage engines and restore them to working condition, weld together pieces of metal to create fuselages, strip weapons from crash sites and mount them on using anything available, and much else. Components that cannot be fixed or obtained from the aircraft wreck are sourced from spare parts. Once completed, the Junk Copter is loaded up with some fuel and sent on its way.
Junk Copters vary in appearance, although they all bear a general resemblance. The end result is an incredibly crude flying machine that somehow manages to fly, in complete defiance of common sense. Of course, no one in their right mind would want to fly such a thing, considering that the improvised nature of the aircraft doesn't exactly make it that safe for anybody onboard. Instead, Junk Copters are piloted using RC control systems cannibalised from toy helicopters; this allows pilots to fly them from the safety of the ground, without having to worry that they might fall out of the cockpit at any given time. Cameras are attached to convenient spots, so that the pilot can see where he is flying the Junk Copter. Controllers for Junk Copters are usually given to anyone who has nothing else to do, so as to free up qualified pilots to man actual aircraft. The Confederates are generally smart enough to stick to proper helicopters most of the time, but if no other aircraft are available, Junk Copters can be used to provide air support quickly and on the cheap.
Due to their improvised nature and tendency to fall apart after some time, Junk Copters rarely survive a battle. Even if a Junk Copter survives to the end of a battle, it is almost invariably stripped apart and broken down into its components, which are then used to fix up other aircraft and vehicles, although there a few exceptions to this here and there.
